Post Two, Day Two

Don’t have a whole lot to say. Spent my day writing articles. I need to find new clients, because my current ones are getting on my nerves. LOL

I’m a little fed up with CEs that question everything I write. If I’m supposed to be the expert, then a CE needs to trust in that, at least to an extent. But questioning whether my definition of “overhead account” is correct because, “all companies have overhead, so it doesn’t make sense that you limited it to manufacturing busineses” because that’s what you BELIEVE is going a bit around the bend.

FYI – An overhead account is a term used for a manufacturing business to record the expenses incurred during the production process. Yes, all businesses have overhead, but really, that term is misused for any business that doesn’t manufacture goods. For all over businesses, “Expenses” is adequate.

Anyhow, my day has been spent dealing with CEs who seem to be on a slight power trip. Maybe it’s a beginning of the month issue, or a new batch of CEs are coming through and trying to prove themselves. Eh, whatever.

Upward and onward. The search for new and better clients begins tomorrow.

Post One, Day One

And I damned near missed it. lol

I signed up for a post-a-day challenge, you know, to try and get myself into the habit of writing everyday as a precursor to NaNo. You know what NaNo is, right? No? Well, in short, November is National Novel Writing Month, and NaNo or NaNoWriMo is a challenge to write a 50k word book in the month of November. Read all about it here: Yeah, I’m On Crack, But It’s Fun Crack.

So, anyway, I’m supposed to write at least one post a day for the entire month of October.

Guess who almost forgot to do it.

But ya, see, here’s the thing: I don’t really need to practice writing every day. I do that now, and I do WAAAAAYYYYY more than 1,667 words a day. That part is easy.

The hard part — finding time to add ANOTHER 1,667 words to my day.

Yeah, sticky — meet wicket.

So, I’m on the fence about whether I’m taking up the challenge this year. I’ve done it every year, for the exception of one, since 2001, so this would be my 10th attempt.

Wow…I’ve tried to write a novel in a month ten times…

Huh.

And before you ask, yes, I have been successful. Several times, actually. I want to say four, but I’m not totally sure. A couple of other times I didn’t finish the novel but I did make the 50k mark, so I guess that counts as a win as well. So, we’ll say that out of nine tries, I was successful on one level or another 6 times. Not bad.

But i’m still on the fence.

Another reason for the hesitation — I don’t like writing novels.

Oh, pick your jaw up off the floor. Not every writer wants to write novels.

There you go again. Stop THAT!

I don’t like descriptive writing. Don’t like reading it, don’t like writing it. I’m a “tell me who is in the scene, and let me eavesdrop on what’s going on”, reader/writer.

That’s me — I’m all about the dialogue.

So, I prefer to write screenplays. Minimal descriptive writing, all about what’s being said and how. So, really I’m more into ScriptFrenzy than NaNo.

Of course I could just write a screenplay during NaNo, but that kinda feels like cheating…

Eh, it’s only Oct. 1st. Got plenty of time to decide. But for now, Post One, Day One is done.
